Pine Creek Retreat & Stopping House
The Pine Creek Stopping House, a one-and-a-half-storey log house built in 1908-09, is a designated provincial historical resource. It originally served as a stopping house, general store, and post office for the region. Located on the former Bears Ears Reserve, Pine Creek offers a self-directed interpretive experience exploring the shared history of Indigenous peoples and settlers, including the story of Chief Bears Ears and the rise and fall of Reserve 126. An Indigenous-owned retreat and resort, Pine Creek caters to corporate and private group bookings and welcomes travelers exploring Alberta's Lakeland region. Pine Creek Retreat provides an immersive experience, connecting guests with nature and the region's rich history. Accommodations include Cree tipis, Métis inspired shelters, and the historic Pine Creek Stopping House, all central to the Pine Creek Interpretive Experience.
